This is a great story! I really felt so Pillan. Did you think of "pillar" when you named him? Because a steward kind of is a pillar. And I love this line, "For the first time he was the eye of the storm." I love how you compare people to storms.
I think that was in the back of my head, but it wasn't a conscious choice. I've always found it harder to name male characters than female ones ...Thanks! This story was one of my favorites (I know, it's like favoring children, but I can't help it) and I was very happy to see it find a home.
