There's an awful lot of "you can't like X because it isn't 'good'" going around on all sides, which naturally makes everyone defensive, especially when, as you say, they've more or less defined themselves by not understanding the other point of view. <br /><br />Anyway, ways to think about this are in all-too-short-a-supply these days, so thank you for contributing some reason to it! Like you, I don't know the answers (which hasn't stopped from me from trying, sometimes).
